Features

QVExcel has a rich set of features that enables you to create highly customised reports within Excel, but with the power of QlikView behind it. Here's a spreadsheet, with many examples of the reports that you could create.

If you can identify any of these pains, then QVExcel can provide a solution for you:

  • Too much time is spent each month manually entering results from QlikView into your spreadsheets
  • You need to create ad-hoc/non-standard reports quickly and reliably
  • You have a company requirement that certain reports must be distributed in Excel
  • You have reports that have a very strict layout (Pixel Perfect Reporting)
  • You have complicated legacy reports that you'd like to have QlikView data in

How?

Here are some of the key features of QVExcel that give users of Excel the tools to use QlikView data however they want and in a way that will save time and pain, month after month.

New Feature! VBA API

With the latest release of QVExcel, it is now possible to control QVExcel using Excel's VBA. It' simple to use and the results are stunning.

This allows you to...

  • Turn pivot tables in to income statements that accurately reflect the dynamic nature of tables
  • Have Reports automatically update to reflect any selections that you've made
  • Automate QVExcel's functionality, such as making selections in QlikView listboxes or exporting value only versions of reports
  • Construct emails and automatically send them out

When you register for a trial of QVExcel, be sure to check out our VBA demos! You can see the API docs here.

Fully Integrated

QVExcel displays within Excel, where you can also make selections.

QVExcel installs as an Excel Add-In, so that it's available within Excel at all times and QlikView data is quickly accessible. There is no need to launch another application or process the data from QlikView before it gets into Excel. If you don't need the QVExcel panel, you can simply hide it until you need it next.

Make ListBox Selections Within Excel

When you connect to a QlikView document, all the listboxes are presented to you in the Selections panel, so that you can make selections that are reflected in the report. It's also possible to only show certain listboxes in the Selections panel.

Use simple QVExcel formulas to extract data from your QlikView application

QVExcel Formulas

QVExcel has a few simple-to-use formulas that enable you to conntect to objects and extract data from the QlikView application, such as text object values or specific cells in charts and tables

Just like with Excel's built-in formulas, it's possible to build up the QVExcel formula by referencing other Excel cells and they can form part of other calculations e.g as part of a normal Excel summation calculation.

QlikView Objects

With a single click extract tables.

When you create your reports you are able to extract data from many commonly used QlikView objects such as Text Objects, Straight Tables, Pivot Tables and ListBoxes.

Extract Tables in a Single Click

Using the Object viewer, you can extract a whole table from QlikView in just a single click so that you can then format it or uses it's values as part of another calculation. You can also extract fields in a similar way.

Security

QVExcel connects to the QlikView application through QlikView Server and as such makes use of QlikView's security. So, Section Access is presevered; users will only see applications, objects and data that they have the rights to see.

This also means that a user of QVExcel doesn't need to have physical access to QlikView documents, as through QVExcel's object and field treeview they can immediately start to create the report.

QVExcel can send expressions to your QlikView application for evaluation.

Expressions

An advanced, powerful feature of QVExcel is the ability to calculate QlikView expressions, this is done by using one of QVExcel's formulas with the expression. This means that you don't necessarily need to have the object present in the application.

Distribution

With QVExcel you can create a detached version of the spreadsheet, which can then be sent to your colleagues who don't have QVExcel installed.

Ok, so you've created a great report, but you want to send it out to other members of your organisation to review it, who may not have QVExcel installed.

With the click of a button, you can 'detach' a copy of the spreadsheet with either just QVExcel formulas converted to values, or all formulas converted to values. This is an exported version of the demo excel file that you get as part of your QVExcel trial download pack.
